Introducing a Landmark Achievement: The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface
The sphere of elite watchmaking is marked by relentless innovation and a profound respect for heritage. In this distinguished arena, Vacheron Constantin consistently elevates the art of mechanical timekeeping. The debut of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface signifies a monumental event, proudly introducing the collection’s first minute repeater. This exceptional creation transcends the definition of a mere watch, a profound demonstration of Vacheron Constantin craftsmanship and a pinnacle of Haute Horlogerie prowess.

As an elegant sports watch, it masterfully integrates a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar, and a tourbillon within an astonishingly slim and sophisticated profile. The arrival of this timepiece, particularly the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface, powerfully reaffirms the brand’s unwavering dedication to engineering sophisticated timepieces and championing timeless elegance.
The Mechanical Heart: Unveiling the Sophistication of Calibre 2755 QP
At the very core of the celebrated Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface beats the extraordinary Calibre 2755 QP. Drawing its lineage from advancements made for the iconic Tour de l’Île watch, this signature movement is a marvel of micro-mechanical engineering. With an impressive thinness of barely 7.9 mm, the Calibre 2755 QP houses an incredible 602 components, each meticulously hand-finished to perfection.

This complex engine, the Calibre 2755 QP, flawlessly orchestrates the intricate melody of the minute repeater, the enduring accuracy of the perpetual calendar (which remarkably requires no adjustment before the year 2100), the captivating gyration of the tourbillon, and a convenient power reserve indicator. This horological feat exhibits Vacheron Constantin’s unparalleled expertise in crafting intricate yet exceptionally refined mechanisms.
The Symphony of Sound: A Trailblazing Minute Repeater
A truly momentous achievement for the Overseas collection is the sophisticated integration of the minute repeater. Achieving robust water resistance in a timepiece featuring a minute repeater presents a well-known horological challenge, primarily due to the case-side slide mechanism required for its activation. Vacheron Constantin committed an extensive year and a half to intensive research and development, meticulously redesigning the caseback of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface.
This dedication ensured the preservation of the collection’s iconic slender curves while capably accommodating the repeater mechanism. The Maison’s proprietary centripetal regulator, an ingeniously silent device ensuring the hammers strike with precise timing for hours, quarters, and minutes, further highlights their innovative spirit and deep-rooted Vacheron Constantin craftsmanship.
Unwavering Precision: The Perpetual Calendar and Enchanting Tourbillon

The perpetual calendar housed within this exceptional timepiece is a testament to remarkable foresight, meticulously tracking day, date, month, and leap-year cycles with steadfast accuracy. Complementing this practical complication is the mesmerizing tourbillon. Its bridges, painstakingly hand-polished to achieve a flawless sheen and architecturally reimagined for a lighter, more visually open appearance, grant an unhindered view of its balletic motion, operating at a traditional and graceful 18,000 vibrations per hour. This unwavering dedication to every minute detail is a true Vacheron Constantin craftsmanship characteristic.
Exquisite Design Fused with Robust Performance
The design of this masterpiece, known formally as Reference 6510V/110T-128C, is encased in exceptionally resilient yet surprisingly lightweight Grade 5 titanium. With a carefully considered diameter of 44.5 mm and a slender height of just 13.1 mm, its proportions achieve a harmonious balance between a dynamic, sporty character and an inherent, refined elegance.

The strategic choice of Grade 5 titanium enhances its robust, durable nature and aligns perfectly with a contemporary aesthetic of understated luxury. This construction contributes significantly to its water-resistant titanium case, making it a remarkable, elegant sports watch.
A Glimpse into Artistry: The Captivating Sapphire Crystal Dial
One of this timepiece’s most defining and visually arresting features is its stunning sapphire crystal dial. This transparent marvel offers a captivating and unobstructed view directly into the intricate and complex workings of the Calibre 2755 QP. Such transparency significantly enhances the watch’s avant-garde spirit and modern appeal. Applied 18-carat white gold hour-markers appear to float ethereally above the mechanics, amplifying the airy and sophisticated aesthetic.
The striking contrast between the deep anthracite grey hue imparted by the NAC galvanic treatment on the bridges and the luminous silvery tone of the rhodium-plated wheels further accentuates this sophisticated timepiece. This meticulously crafted sapphire crystal dial is a luminous window into pure, unadulterated mechanical art.
Supreme Versatility: The Ingenious Interchangeable Titanium Bracelet
Vacheron Constantin’s legendary and meticulous attention to detail is strikingly evident in the hand-finishing applied to every single component – from the mirror-polished repeater hammers to the meticulously bevelled and satin-brushed bridges, themselves adorned with the classic Côtes de Genève motif. The bezel introduces a novel combination of sandblasting with polishing and satin-brushing, establishing a new aesthetic signature for titanium-cased models within the esteemed Overseas collection.
True to the collection’s inherent versatility, the timepiece features an innovative interchangeable titanium bracelet equipped with a convenient comfort-adjustment system. Further enhancing its adaptability, it is also supplied with two additional straps – one crafted from luxurious blue alligator leather and another from durable blue rubber, allowing the wearer to tailor its style effortlessly. This feature solidifies its status as a premier, elegant sports watch, and the interchangeable titanium bracelet is a key component of this adaptability.

Questions for Christian Selmoni, Director of Style and Patrimony
Is the openface concept new to Vacheron Constantin or part of the Maison’s patrimony?
Vacheron Constantin has a long tradition in this area. The Maison made a name for itself in the 1920s, at the height of the Art Deco period, with some exquisite open-face pocket watches in platinum and rock crystal. More recently, the Twin Beat Perpetual Openface in 2019, the Traditionnelle Complete Calendar Openface in 2021, and the Traditionnelle Tourbillon Retrograde Date Openface in 2023 have continued this tradition. And let’s not forget the one-off pieces, like the Les Cabinotiers Armillary Tourbillon Rolls-Royce model and the Traditionnelle Openface models launched at Watches and Wonders 2025.
Does the openface concept present any particular aesthetic challenges?
When we create complex movements such as Calibre 2755 QP, we naturally want to reveal their full beauty, not just through a sapphire case back, as usual, but also by opening the dial. This aesthetic, which is considered avant-garde because of its kinetic aspect, imposes its demands. When the dial is open-worked, the calibre is visible from the front.
Therefore, we must apply galvanic or PVD (physical vapour deposition) surface treatments to the movement components to give them colours that fully respect the avant-garde spirit. Another challenge concerns the sapphire crystal dials. As they are also used to display functions, they require delicate machining with several openings, not to mention metallisation and finishing. In this sense, the very notion of openface adds an extra level of complexity.
Does a watch as complex as this Overseas Grand Complication Openface model belong in a collection designed for exploration?
With the boundaries between watchmaking genres becoming increasingly blurred today, the world of horological complications is no longer confined to fragile, museum-quality timepieces – far from it. This is precisely what Vacheron Constantin is doing with the Overseas collection. Conceived as a watch with a spirit of exploration adapted to the adventures of everyday life, with useful complications such as a chronograph or dual time-zone display, the Overseas also knows how to go beyond those boundaries.
The collection already includes tourbillon and ultra-thin skeletonised perpetual calendar pieces that in no way detract from it, quite the contrary. Each is faithful to the Overseas spirit, respecting its codes while adding a new dimension to the world of complications, one of Vacheron Constantin’s significant areas of expertise. The same is true of this new Overseas Grand Complication Openface. It is equipped with a complex calibre but in a form that honours the collection’s adventurous character.
Can you tell us more about the reasons for choosing this particular calibre?
We chose Calibre 2755 for this new watch because of its complexity, combining a tourbillon, a perpetual calendar, and a minute repeater that incorporates the latest development in regulating the striking mechanism. In developing the movement, we benefited from the research behind creating the Tour de l’Île, the 250th anniversary timepiece featuring 16 complications. Another advantage of this calibre is its slimness for such a level of complexity – just 7.9 millimetres. Moreover, the movement is modular, allowing the addition of astronomical and other functions, as illustrated by the Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Bacchus watch of 2022 and the Les Cabinotiers Dual Moon Grand Complication presented the following year.
